Sports Massage or Deep Tissue Massage – What’s best for you?

Sports Massage or Deep Tissue Massage – What’s best for you?

There is often no better feeling than having a body massage to ease aches and pains or just to relax ⛱

What’s best for you? 🤔

There is often no better feeling than having a body massage to ease aches and pains or just to relax ⛱ It’s no wonder massage therapists often find their patients snoring on the masseuse bed (which is a total compliment, by the way – no need to be embarrassed 😴). In many ways, body massages have the same end goal: ease tension, relax the body, relieve pain.

If reading this is making you itch to book a massage – great! I often get asked what the differences between the massages are, so I decided to jot them down here 👌🏻 Just carry on reading a little more to decide which massage you most probably need 💡 Because while the massage end goals may be similar, different methods and training should be applied depending on your body’s needs. And if you are still not sure? Pop us a message, and we can help you figure out the best way forward! 📱

What is a deep tissue massage?

The definition is in the name, really. This kind of massage works deeply on tight, short, or knotted muscles. 🙂

·      What training does the therapist have?

Our therapists that perform deep massages will have completed their Level 3 Diploma in Massage or Complementary Therapies – which means you are literally in good hands! 🙌🏻

 ·      Do I need a deep tissue massage?

Who doesn’t need a massage that promotes healing, works out the ‘knots’, boosts circulation and aids digestion!? If you need any of these things – then a deep tissue massage will be right up your alley. 👆🏻

What is a sports massage?

This definition happens to not be in the name. Many people think that a sports massage is for sportspeople ⚽️ (and we can’t blame them!). When really, a sports massage is so much more than that. It is a more structured massage that focuses on the healing process of any kind of injury or muscle irritation 👍🏻

So, it’s not just for when a footballer pulls a calf muscle on the field. It includes diagnostic assessments, massage treatment plans and can play an essential part in rehabilitating your injury.

 ·      What training does the therapist have?

On top of having their basic masseuse training, our sports massage therapists have also completed further training levels. This ensures that your injury will be well taken care of and your body guided on its healing path. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

·      Do I need a sports massage?
If you have any soft tissue injuries, joint problems or issues that causes the surrounding muscles to go into spasm, then having a sports massage will be precisely what you need. 💛

At Inspired Health, our Chiropractors will often refer you to one of our trained and experienced massage therapists to help you rehabilitate an injury or ease muscle tension. Call 01245 699152 for more info.   ☎️
